Installation & Safety Advice

The 45 / 135 Elbow should only be used as a connecting pipe between your appliance and your flue liner, chimney stack, or twin wall flue system. Single wall vitreous stove pipe must not pass through ceilings or walls; always use twin wall insulated flue pipe for those sections.

For safety, ensure the stove pipe is installed at least three times its diameter away from combustible materials such as wood or plasterboard. When installing, the smaller diameter should always point downward to keep condensates inside the flue system. Each joint should be sealed with a suitable jointing compound (fire cement or high temperature silicone sealant) to prevent leaks and maintain a clean appearance.

Maintenance

Regular inspection and cleaning of your flue system are essential for safe operation, especially with solid fuel appliances. It’s recommended that chimneys serving these appliances be swept at least once a year, or more frequently depending on use. For easy maintenance, consider using a flue pipe with an access door for cleaning.
